2010 Shootout

Junior Sportsman 1

The Junior Sportsman classes are for drivers 8-10 years of age. Junior Sportsman drivers also use a sprint chassis, but must run a Briggs and Stratton flathead motor with a purple plate between the carburetor and the intake manifold to reduce fuel to the motor thus reducing horsepower. The minimum weight for this class is 265 lbs for combined driver and kart. The primary difference between the 1A and the 1B classes is the level of experience of the driver. Drivers in the 1A class are novice drivers in their first season. 1B drivers have completed their first year of karting and are ready for more advanced competition. This class runs methanol for fuel.
